Seminars
The subject of this heavily participative seminar is the quest to build a world-class company. Over a period of three days, attendees form teams and play the leadership role for an imaginary small business. They deal with a number of challenges andthen have a chance to examine the results of their efforts using small-scale computer simulations, providing a specific and repeatable set of circumstances for all participants.
The essence of each team's task is to assess the circumstances and make the appropriate decisions that maximize the company's net profit. While the teams measure themselves based on results, the greatest value is in the subsequent discussions, which are heavily focused on evaluating their decision-making processes - their reasons and their reasoning. These discussions are enlightening, animated, and usually great fun, as many participants discover that sometimes the easy answers aren't so easy after all.
Some of the topics touched on include:
- Selecting products and services to offer
- Choosing markets to enter
- Spending money on process improvements
- Hiring employees
- Motivating employees
- Using incentives
- Performance evaluation
- Rewarding and disciplining employees
- Goal setting
While this 3-day seminar is no substitute for an MBA, it provides participants a truly meaningful and enjoyable exercise in business management, with a few wrenches thrown in the works to keep everyone on their toes and suggest innovative alternatives to the usual approaches.
The seminar requires a minimum of 8 participants, with a maximum of 24.
The human mind, and how it works, remains a mystery. How to use it effectively, however, is no mystery - but neither is it common knowledge. As is revealed in this interactive seminar, not knowing how to use your mind effectively leaves you vulnerable to deception and manipulation, and prevents you from achieving lasting success.
Some of the topics covered include:
- How others try to manipulate your thinking every day
- How your own senses can betray you
- How your greatest strength can lead to your downfall
- How your memory can trick you while trying to help you
- How nonsensical thoughts sometimes seem perfectly reasonable (and vice-versa)
This 3-day seminar provides participants a revealing and enjoyable tour of the processes at work in the mind.
